Garfish

The Garfish or Needlefish is caught in the Cantabrian Sea in autumn and winter. It is a blue fish, similar to the sardine and the horse mackerel, and so are its nutritional properties.

The garfish’s most distinctive feature is its long and narrow beak, that is why it is called “needlefish”. This fish is really appreciated all along the villages of the Cantabrian Coast.

A small surface predatory fish, regularly caught as by-catch within Sardines shoals. A popular canned fish in both Spain and Portugal. One to discover or try again.

Note: Traditional round tin. The can opener is not included…
