About Us

Welcome to Gannet Fishmongers, Galway – Home of EatMoreFish.ie
It all started back in 2004 at Galway Market, where you’ll still find us every Saturday. For our founder Stefan Griesbach, seafood isn’t just a trade—it’s a lifelong passion backed by 35+ years of hands-on experience.

We may run what appears to be the largest online seafood shop in the EU…  but at heart, we’re still your local fish shop. Whether you’re visiting us in Galway or ordering online, we bring the same quality, service, and personal touch.

Same fish, same price—online or in-store.
No hidden markups, no gimmicks. Just honest prices across the board.

Our ethos

Why is it so hard to find great fish on an Island surrounded by such world-class waters?
Ireland’s relationship with Fish or Seafood has always been complicated… But we are here to try to change this — One fish and One customer at a time.

Our Full Catch approach means we don’t just sell the usual suspects. We are commired to highlight every lesser-known species, supporting local & artisanal fishing,  and encouraging our customers to eat MORE fish and all the Seafood

#plentymorefishinthesea

Our fish

Local Fish and Seafood are seasonal—and that’s a good thing.
The quality of every fish changes with the seasons. We have the expertise to decide when is the season to buy or to decide to skip a species. When your favourite species is shown as still swimming, it is either because they got lucky..  or that we may have choosen to give it a break. Eat MORE fish!!!

No flying fish and  Ethical sourcing
We stopped dealing in air-freighted seafood. The environmental cost is high, and hurts local food systems. We keep our fresh supply grounded, and always prioritise Irish caught fish.
