Fritto Misto Di Mare …

Translates as Mixed Fish Fry…  A simple Platter of assorted fried Seafood, hugely popular all over Italy. Try it with Squid  or any small catch of the day such as shrimps, small whole fish, etc …

Ingredients

  1. 150-250 g per servings: Mixed Fish & Seafood: Squid, Prawns, White baits, flat fish cut into pieces, Baby Monk, small strips of fillets
  2. Flour seasoned with salt ( + Add Paprika or chili powder if you intend to raise the Heat )
  3. Sunflower, Groundnut or Light Olive oil for frying
  4. Fresh salad leaves to serve with and a wedge of lemon
  5. Lemon or Chili /Garlic Mayonnaise

Method

  1. 1 Prepare all your seafood in advance. Making sure that all have a similar thickness to cook heavenly.... Pat dry with kitchen paper
  2. 2 Toss in flour seasoned with salt ( + Add paprika or chili powder to raise the Heat) Check the excess flour
  3. 3 Preferably Deep fry, but end result will be nearly as good if shallow fried. Always cook in small batch to avoid Gloppy, sticky Gluten seafood mess )
  4. 4 Scoop out when nicely brown and colored. Five minutes is enough cooking time. Let the excess oil drain on a piece of kitchen paper
  5. 5 Mix some lemon juice or chili garlic sauce with Mayonnaise to make a dip. Serve with seasoned fresh leaves and a wedge of lemon.
  6. 6 Buon appetito
