BBQ Korean style Marinate

Are you familiar with GOCHUJANG ? A Miso style fermented Korean chili paste made from rice, fermented soybeans, red chili pepper flakes… MUST TRY if you are a fan of Asian flavour with a gentle spicy kick. Gochujang is a staple Korean cooking ingredient, readily available in any Asian store. It packs so much flavour. Give your BBQ food a Korean twist and impress with this simply delicious marinate… Works with any fish or seafood of your choice, and is incidentally amazing too with Poultry or Pork not to mention the competition… 🙂

Ingredients

  1. 3 tablespoons light soy sauce
  2. 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
  3. 2 tablespoons clear honey
  4. 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  5. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  6. 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  7. 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  8. 2 spring onions, finely chopped (for garnish)
  9. Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  10. optional: chopped Coriander for both marinate and garnish
  11. Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. 1 In a bowl, combine the Soy sauce, gochujang, honey, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, salt, and pepper. Mix well to create the marinade
  2. 2 Add your fish to the marinate, stir well to coat evenly, marinate in the fridge for 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
  3. 3 BBQ your food or grill indoor if the weather turned...
  4. 4 Garnish with the chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Toss to coat evenly
  5. 5 Enjoy
