A rather unusual by catch specie on the South Coast. Twait shad live at sea and return to fresh water to spawn and reproduce.

The three sisters river system on the South East: the Barrow, Nore and River Suir, have a well established population.

FLAVOUR: Sweet & oily  TEXTURE: Firm, small flalkes,  similar bone structure to herring ….

ORIGIN: South Coast, gill net by catch.

COOK IT: Season, toss in Flour, fry or deep fry.

STORAGE: In your fridge 2 to 3 days. Suitable for home freezing
