Flounder is a very popular flat fish species State side, but no so well known around here despite being very common in Irish water. Irish Flounder or Flukes as they are sometimes known are caught inshore or in Estuaries. The Species is known to be very tolerant to fresh water and can soemtimes be found far upstream. It is commonly caught as a by catch but lack of demand makes it one of those cheaper flat fish rarely kept. What does it taste like ? Similar enough to plaice.
