Sea Bream is known among Classic English Cooks as the Gilthead Bream, for a beautiful Golden coloured strip that graces its forehead. The French being dramatic as always… call it nothing else than “La Daurade ROYAL”… This fish is as popular as Sea Bass along the the Mediterranean. Sea Bream texture is slightly softer, and not as oily as its Bass Relative.
Our farmed Sea Bream are sourced from “Nirus Aquaculture” a renowned Greek fish farming company. They are available all year round and offer a tasty alternative to Sea Bass. One to keep in mind when Irish weather prevents our local fleet from going out.
The odd Wild Irish caught Sea Bream can be bagged up on the Southern coast of Ireland, but such capture remains unusual.
