An all time favourite in Mediterranean countries, “farmed Sea bass” made its first appearance on Irish fish counters in the late 1990’s. Its firm texture and sweet flavour has rapidly conquered Irish palates. Sea Bass is now omnipresent in fish shops and restaurant menus. It’s higher oil content, a very small amount of bones makes Sea Bass “naturally tasty” even if overcooked… Our Farmed Sea Bass are sourced from “Nirus Aquaculture”, in Greece and are available all year round.
Sea Bass are not always farmed. They are present on the South and West Coast of Ireland, but stocks are protected by a restrictive ban on the commercial landing of this specie. If you ever want to taste the delicious flavor of Wild Sea Bass, buy a fishing rod and get down to the shore…. Irish Sea Anglers are still allowed to catch Wild Irish Sea bass only with a rod and a maximum restriction of one fish per day.
Or “alternatively”, contact us with your details to be added to our Wild Sea Bass “Wish” List. A couple of times in the year, we come across and import some French Caught Wild Sea Bass ,when at a “relatively reasonable price”
